Francesco Magisano is an elite para-triathlete and para-cyclist racing on the national and international levels representing his home team, TriAchilles, and the USA. He is totally blind and races with a pilot or guide. Francesco has qualified for and raced at national championships for both triathlon and cycling and has represented the USA in ITU international triathlon. His recent podium finishes include silver and bronze at nationals as well as two first-place podiums and six general podiums in 2019.
Francesco was a power lifter before transitioning to endurance sports where he ran multiple marathons and road races before finding his way to the multi-sport world. He quickly discovered his strength on the bike and grew to compete in the sport of cycling as well as triathlon.
Outside of competition, Francesco graduated with a degree in political science from Fordham University in New York City. He currently works as the director of Achilles Triathlon, the multi-sport division of Achilles International, an international organization with the mission to introduce people with a variety of disabilities to mainstream running and multi-sport events at all levels. Francesco has also been a musician since the age of five and has performed piano, guitar, bass, and vocals at venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Don’t Tell Mama, and Arlene’s Grocery.
